On Monday March 10, 2014, pointB held a small opening ceremony at the new Design-Thinking Center for Community Engagement located at Mawlamyine University. We were joined by Mawlamyine University Rector, Dr. Htay Aung, Heads of Faculty and the English Department. Following the ceremony, pointB kicked off its first training course — a 3-month training with 33 faculty from Mawlamyine University's English Department. This course brings together design-thinking, teaching methodology, organizational development, life skills, study skills and of course, English language. It's been a historical week at Mawlamyine University — here are some excerpts from Dr. Htay Aung's opening speech.

To all present, ladies and gentlemen, trainers of Point B Design and Training, professors and trainees, I am wishing you all a very good afternoon and mingalaba….

This [training] is the first activity implemented under the MOU we signed in December, 2013. We still do not have any experience ever before such like this signing MOU with foreign delegates. In fact we are expecting a lot from our MOU counterparts…

Today, I feel very proud to give a speech in this academic staff training program held in our university. The presence of faculty heads in this opening ceremony indicates a great interest of our university and the importance for us…

We look forward to this training program, it is of great value to us. The status of the trainees after the program will be evidence of the efficiency of our MOU…

Not only this training, we do have plan to open more and more trainings such like this, for post graduate students and also for already graduated youths of different townships in Mon state…

Finally I wish to extend my thanks and appreciation to our friends, Point B personals, for your hard work and efforts to become this training program into reality. Thank you all.
— Dr. Htay Aung, Rector of Mawlamyine University
